Abstract
Kompresija s gubitkom sadržaja najviše se koristi za slikovne i zvukovne datoteke jer se na tim datotekama ostvaruje najbolji učinak. Za slikovne datoteke najčešće upotrebljavana kompresija je ona za JPEG format dok je kod zvukovnih datoteke najviše rasprostranjena Mp3 kompresija. Kod JPEG kompresije najčešće upotrebljavane tehnike su: pretvorba RGB boja u YIQ, DCT, kvantizacija, Huffman kodiranje. Kod Mp3 kompresije najučinkovitiji korak algoritma je psihoakustični model koji jakim zvučnim signalom prikrije pojavljivanje slabog zvučnog signala te tako smanjuje veličinu datoteke.
