Abstract
Projekt StratoberryPi imao je cilj puštanja meteorološkog balona u pojas niže stratosfere (20-30km nadmorske visine). Balon je imao nosivost od 500g te je nosio senzoričku i komunikacijsku opremu kojom su se bilježili podaci o temperaturi, tlaku zraka, vlažnosti zraka, te senzori za sliku horizonta i Zemlje. Projekt je nosio više izazova koji se mogu kategorizirati u dvije skupine; inženjerski i istraživački izazovi. Inženjerski izazov je bio razviti hardver koji će biti dovoljno robustan za okolinu niske temperature i niskog tlaka zraka, dok je softver morao biti dovoljno otporan na greške. U slučaju ispada pojedine komponente funkcionalnost ostatka softvera nije smjela biti narušena. Što se tiče istraživačkog izazova, tu je prije svega prikupljanje iskustva, znanja i poznanstva za ovaj pothvat te prikupljanje podataka koji su se kasnije obradili u cilju dobivanja rekonstrukcije rute balona.
