Abstract
U ovom radu obrađujem povijest prostih brojeva od najranijih hipoteza i teorema iz Antičke Grčke, te proste brojeve posebnih oblika i nizova prostih brojeva. Razrađene su poznate hipoteze: Goldbachova hipoteza, hipoteza 3x+1 i hipoteza o prostim blizancima. Također pokazujem dokazane teoreme vezane za proste brojeve: Wilsonov teorem, Teorem prostih brojeva manjih od zadanog broja, Dirichletov teorem, Chenov teorem i Green-Tao teorem. Na samom kraju izrađeni su programski primjeri za Eratostenovo sito i Lucas-Lehmerov test za provjeru Mersennovih brojeva.
