Abstract
U današnjem post industrijskom društvu 21. stoljeća, u centar razvoja, napretka i osnovice konkurentnosti bilo koje djelatnosti, dolazi upravljanje informacijama putem tehnologija kako bi se olakšao i ubrzao proces upravljanja znanjem, a samim time i stvaranje profita te opstanak na tržištu. U ovom radu nastoji se objasniti pojam informacijske tehnologije općenito te različiti aspekti gledišta iste, definira se pozicija Hrvatske prema Globalnom izvješću o informacijskoj tehnologiji, navode se glavni problemi sa kojima se IT profesionalci susreću na radnim mjestima, potrebne vještine IT profesionalaca te IT korisnika s druge strane, te se navode postojeći standardi (SFIA, SFIA + i e-CF) koji služe kao pomoć upravljanju i definiranju potrebnih vještina IT profesionalaca.
