Abstract
U ovom radu su proučavani procesi grananja u diskretnom vremenu. Započinje se uvođenjem jednostavnih procesa grananja te se na nekoliko primjera pokaže kada može nastupiti izumiranje procesa. Zatim se formalno definiraju funkcije izvodnice vjerojatnosti i prezentira se njihova korist prilikom rada s procesima izumiranja (na primjer, jednostavno se može izračunati vjerojatnost izumiranja za pojedini proces). Na kraju su objašnjeni uvjeti izumiranja, koji pomažu odgovoriti na pitanje hoće li proces uopće izumrijeti i ako da, koje su šanse za to.
